Padma is currently living in a yurt in the Spanish Pyrenees. His electricity comes from a solar panel, his water comes from a mountain spring. Inspired by the ideas behind Henry David Thoreau's "Walden", Padma blogs about his experiences, and keeps us updated in the form of a video blog and an accompanying written blog. In 1854 Henry David Thoreau went to the woods, built a cabin and contemplated the impact of industrialisation on the lives of humans. The result was his famous book "Walden: Or, Life in the Woods". Now Padma re-visits Thoreau's ideas, and suggests some from his own Buddhist perspective, in an attempt to find radical solutions to the current economic, environmental and spiritual crises. Like Thoreau, he will share his life on the mountain and question the basic values on which our society is built. The result is a new video blog - "Here: Or, Life in the Mountains". 26th October 2008 'SONG FOR AN ENTRYPHONE' IS JULIAN LENNON'S PICK OF THE WEEK That's right folks. I played Acoustic and Beats at the Joogleberry in Brighton and The Rooms at St Leonards last week. Both were lovely venues and excellent nights. The Joogleberry night was part of the Brighton Fringe festival and was lovely and mellow, with some chilled out beats from Digitonal and gentle instrumental guitar and loops from Leo Abrahams, as well as a set by yours truly, expertly accompanied by the haunting synths and dulcet tones of Becky Nelson. The Rooms was so mellow that I just kept on playing. I was the only act on the night so there was no time pressures. In the end I was on stage for over an hour. Next stop is Oxford on Wednesday at the Purple Turtle. Then over to London for the 'handshake' peaceful protest - a line of people spanning London from the Albert Hall, where the Dalai Lama will be speaking, to the Chinese Embassy. We will all shake hands and hope it encourages the Chinese to get in on the act. Come down! Then a couple of gigs in the London area, then off up north. Hope to see you somewhere along the way. 12th May 2008 Acoustic and Beats comes to Brighton for the Fringe The show is at the JOOGLEBERRY PLAYHOUSE and features Just Music artists PADMA, LEO ABRAHAMS and DIGITONAL.
